The great city of London turned out massively last night, for the 72nd British Academy Film Awards. While the Grammy Awards was taking place in the United States, it was also a busy night in the United Kingdom, as the BAFTAS 2019 was taking place also. The 72nd annual EE British Academy Film Awards was held at London’s Royal Albert Hall on Sunday night.
The event, hosted by Joanna Lumley at the Royal Albert Hall, marked the last major awards show before the Oscars in Los Angeles.
And with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in attendance celebs pulled out all the vestiary stops for the big night. Although, last year’s ceremony saw the majority of attendees opt for black outfits of solidarity with the Time’s Up Movement, the red carpet at this year’s event witnessed a massive return to colour.
Kate arrived the BAFTAS with her husband Prince William. The mother-of-three was dressed in an Alexander MacQueen gown that won her the best dressed for the night. She completely stole the show and looked every bit like royalty.
Leading this year’s best dressed at the BAFTAS Awards, the Duchess of Cambridge,opted for a one-shouldered ethereal white gown, paired with glittery pointy courts by Jimmy Choo and a pair of pearl and diamond drop earrings that once belonged to Princess Diana. She was an enigma of royalty ,beauty ,class and style last night.
She was also seen congratulating Olivia Colman, 45, who took one of the top prizes of the night after being named best actress for her role as Queen Anne in “The Favourite”, which swept the board with seven gongs.
