The Nigerian afro-fusion singer and songwriter won the Best International Act at the 2019 BET Awards, beating the likes of South Africa’s AKA, France’s Aya Nakamura, Dave and Giggs, and Mr. Eazi.
The award was received by ,Burna Boy’s mum and manager, Bose Ogulu who also attended the award ceremony. In her acceptance speech, Burna Boy’s mum said the message from the singer to every African in diaspora is ‘remember you were first an African before any other thing.’
The singer took to his twitter account to express his gratitude, he tweeted, “God is Great! Thank You To Everyone that’s supporting, I wouldn’t have this without you. This one is for Africa.
